My advice here after 5 years of experience in football betting. Ask yourself are you someone playing for fun or a serious gambler/investor. If you are playing for fun only: Understand that you will DEFINITELY lose money because of the house advantage charged by the bookie. Singapore Pools "charges" around 13% for 1x2 and 10% for (+/- 1.5. So in the long run you will definitely lose money. Make no mistake about it. Don't have a second doubt on this. I don't care how much tips you have, how much soccer knowledge you have, how lucky you are or how good your house's fengshui is. Since you know you will lose money, set a limit and do not go beyond it. It should be an amount that you can afford to lose without affecting your life. Do NOT increase the bet amount each time, keep it to a constant figure, depending how much you have. If you can afford to lose 5k, keep the bet around 100 per match for example. If you are a serious gambler/invester (like me) 1) Ask yourself do you have the time to commit, I spent 3-6 hours of data mining just to find one worthwhile match to invest my money in it. No time, no bet. Simple. 2) Invest ONLY in what you know. You know what your relative strength is. If you are good at spotting draws in Series A, stick to it. Never try anything else. If you are good in spotting changes in recent forms, of a particular fav team, stick to it and nothing else, for example if you know that when SAFFC is on form, it doesn't stop slaying its opponent at 1-nil. 3) Make sure that the bet is value for money-because that is the essential condition for making money. For example paying you and odd of 3.00 for something happening at 50%. If you do not understand the math here, stay away from any form of gambling. Again how sure can you be for some sports outcome to be happening at 50 percent? Go back to point 2, invest ONLY in certain fields that you are damn sure of. 4) Maintain 100% emotional discipline. Keep a constant bet amount. Never increase the bet amount. Even with the right strategy, having winning or losing streak is PERFECTLY NORMAL. Never fool yourself that you can earn more because you have been "lucky". Never fool yourself that you can bet more to recoup the loss. 5)Patience is a virtue. I just spent 5 hours yesterday researching and have made no bet. Serious investment is like finding a few pearls among a sea of landmines. The bookies can always give you shity odds. The stats, charts, match reports and previews can always give you no obvious clues. You YOURSELF choose what to buy and therefore your fate is totally in your hand. Stay away when you feel uncertain.
